Michelle and Moisés met as students at MIT: she from California, he from Cuba, though he had grown up in Mallorca. Years later, living in New York, they came back to the island where Moisés spent his childhood to marry, surrounded by around 70 family and friends who flew in from across the United States and Cuba.
Getting ready at the finca
Ceremony in the Finca Binissatí woodland
They chose Finca Binissatí, one of Mallorca's most private historic estates, and stayed on the property the night before, one of the quiet luxuries this finca allows. The ceremony took place in the woodland, a clearing under old trees that gives Binissatí its particular sense of atmosphere.
A couple's session through the forest
Afterwards, while guests moved on to cocktails, Michelle and Moisés walked with me through the forest for a portrait session: the same trees, but softer now, and just the two of them.
Golden hour dinner in the patio de naranjos
Dinner was served in the patio de naranjos, the orange grove courtyard, as the sun began to drop. It was one of those Mallorca evenings when the sky turns every color at once and no one quite knows where to look: the finca in gold and pink, guests slowing down to notice.
Salsa and dominos in the 17th-century clastra
Then the celebration moved to the 17th-century clastra. There was salsa, and a lot of it. There were tables set with dominos, an unspoken invitation to gather, play, and stay longer than intended. Cuban warmth, Californian ease, Mallorcan light: three worlds meeting in the same courtyard.
